We want to make this easy for you. Here are answers to commonly asked questions.

The Basics

  • Nope! We are not an agency. The band was created by Mandy & Tim, a husband/wife team. Our years of playing together on stage have resulted in us crafting a tight sound and and onstage energy that is infectious. Because we do not employ a booking agent or management company, we have total control over our operations and provide you the best quality services at a polite price.

  • What don’t we play?! From ‘Twist and Shout’ to ‘24k Magic’, we play everything from the 50’s to something that came out 50 minutes ago. We’ll help you craft the perfect setlist that will thrill your guests. Don’t see your special song? We’ll learn it.

Check out our songs page for more info.

  • We will provide you with the perfect soundtrack for your event; you expect this. But we will also work tirelessly to ensure that your entire day is flawless. We do this by coordinating with all of your other vendors, working directly with your planner, and making all of those special moments count.

Another thing that makes us different is why we do what we do. We were so inspired by the band at our wedding in Ohio that we’ve been on a mission to bring that kind of magic to Southern California!

Lastly, we’re a group of friends who have amazing chemistry on stage. Our clients consistently tell us that our energy is so infectious, and we’re clearly having so much fun together, they couldn’t help but party with us on the dance floor all night long!

  • You may hear us excitedly exclaim “It’s Business Time!!” right before we start a set. What do we mean when we say it’s Business Time? We mean we are about to rock SO hard, while also being the the pros you need us to be. It means we will provide you with everything you need, while also having a BLAST with all of you and our band mates. As Brian likes to say “Business in the front, Party in the back.” To summarize, it means: 100% Party. 100% Professional. That’s our philosophy.

  • All our band members will be there unless they are out of town or sick. When this happens, we have stand- in’s who play with the band regularly and reflect our core values. They are not “subs”, they are part of the BTE Family! No matter what, we will always have you covered.

The Fun Part: MUSIC

  • We’ll play all night long, if you want us to! Our packages include 4 hours of dance music, which is enough for a 5 hour event. Wedding packages can also include Cocktail Hour and Ceremony Music. We are happy to customize to suit your needs.

  • Yes! We DJ music during our short set breaks and we have some fantastic playlists for you! We can also start or end the night with a DJ set. Just because the band stops playing doesn’t mean the party stops!

  • If you have a special song you don’t see on our list, we’re willing to learn it. Over the year’s we’ve played an eclectic list of requests that we’re proud of, including the Game of Thrones theme, a song from Charlotte’s Web, obscure indie songs, and more. We love expanding our musical horizon!

  • Absolutely. We have an assortment of options to create the perfect soundtrack for your most special moments. Want solo acoustic guitar, a singer/ songwriter duo, a jazz quartet, or piano ballads? We’ve got you covered.

  • Yes! If you have a member of the wedding that would like to do special song, we’d love to make that happen. Some of our favorite memories include these moments. We’ve had Brides and Grooms surprise their new spouse, Uncle’s play triangle onstage, cousins play keyboard, and more.

  • We love 90’s, too! From BSB to Britney to the Spice Girls, we’ve got it all. More into 90’s punk rock? We’ve got Blink182, Green Day, and more.

  • Never heard of 'em. Oh wait! You mean that song Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymnoceros?

The nitty gritty: Sound, Lighting, & Packages

  • Sound systems, stage lights, wireless microphones for toasts…we have you covered! All you’ll have to provide is easy access to electrical power and a crowd. We’ll take care of the rest. No extra fees.

  • We have a dedicated sound engineer on every gig who makes sure that we sound great. He’s been with us for years. He’ll also make sure all the speeches sound great. For more on the importance of a dedicated sound engineer, check out this post.

  • Absolutely. This is one of the most important things we do as the MC sets the tone for the evening and keeps the event running smoothly.

  • We never want to hurt you or your guests ears. That’s why our Sound Engineer is on every gig, balancing the sound. We’ve played many venues where we had to be under a specific decibel limit, and we have apps that help us keep tabs. We are also very aware of our volume throughout dinner music, cocktail hour, and during the dance sets.

  • Two sheep, a goat, and three bricks usually covers everything. Just kidding! Planning something small and intimate? Jumping on a private jet to Palau to tie the knot? Shoot us a message detailing your event and we’ll work out an investment that fits! We're very budget conscious; we offer various options to accommodate your dreams.

  • Typically, our clients book us a year out and Saturdays tend to book up first. However, we always encourage you to check dates with us, no matter where you are in your planning process! Get in touch with Tim to see if your date is open.
